What Determines the Price of a Fireworks Display?
A straight explanation of what moves the price of a fireworks display in Riyadh — duration, height, site, season and crew — and why no final price is given before a site survey.
There’s no fixed price for a fireworks display, and anyone who quotes you a number over chat before knowing your venue is quoting a number that will change. But no fixed price doesn’t mean the pricing is opaque — the factors are known, and these are they.
1. Duration, which matters less than you’d think
People ask about minutes first, and minutes aren’t actually the biggest factor.
A tightly designed 90-second display built around the entrance leaves a stronger impression than five scattered minutes. And cost doesn’t rise linearly with time: the first minute is the most expensive, because it carries the setup, the arrangements and the full crew. The minutes after it add material only.
In practice: doubling the duration doesn’t double the price. It does raise it.
2. Height and scale — the biggest factor
A shell reaching 30 metres and one reaching 100 metres are not the same thing, in cost or in arrangements. The higher the display goes:
- the more the material itself costs
- the wider the required safety zone around the launch point
- the heavier the official arrangements
- the larger the crew needed to secure the perimeter
Which is why a large aerial display in open ground can cost less than a mid-sized one on a cramped site: the space itself is part of the cost.
3. The site
Three things about a site move the price:
Available space. A wide site allows natural safety distances. A cramped one needs shielding, extra crew, and sometimes lower-altitude material at a higher unit cost.
Access. Unloading and setting up in a yard a truck can reach is not the same as a site reachable only on foot.
Surroundings. Proximity to occupied buildings or sensitive facilities means longer arrangements and higher requirements.
4. Timing
Season. National Day night costs more than an ordinary night in November. That isn’t opportunism: crews are finite, and demand for a single night exceeds what can physically be delivered.
How close the date is. Booking a month out lets us schedule crew and stock. Booking days out means rushed arrangements and a crew rescheduled around you, and that carries a cost.
Night of the week. Thursdays and Fridays run hotter than the rest.
5. Music synchronisation
A display timed to a specific audio track needs precise firing programming and a rehearsal, and costs more than a free-sequence display. The visual difference is significant at weddings in particular — but it’s an option, not a requirement.
6. Cold spark versus aerial
Cold spark generally costs less: lighter arrangements, smaller crew, no wide launch perimeter. If your venue is an enclosed hall the choice is already made — we cover the difference in detail here.
Why we insist on a survey before a price
Because four of the six factors above can’t be known without looking at the site. A price given before the survey is one of two things: inflated to absorb surprises, or lowered to close the booking and revised afterwards. Both are bad for you.
Our survey is free and carries no obligation, and ends with a written quote for a specific display — not an open range.
How to come prepared
Before contacting any company, settle three things only:
- The date — approximate is fine.
- The venue — a name or a district is enough to start.
- A rough budget — even as a wide range.
The third is the one people hesitate to share, thinking it raises the price. The opposite: without it we’ll propose a scale that may be nowhere near what you had in mind, and a full round of back-and-forth is wasted. Tell us the range, and we’ll tell you honestly what can be delivered within it — and if it isn’t enough for what you want, we’ll say that too.
Send us those three details on WhatsApp and we’ll start from there.
